How the West Osceola Friends of the Library is organized

Stage of Development

The West Osceola Friends of the Library was incorporated on April 29, 2004. We have been approved by the Internal Revenue Service, and are recognized as a charity under section 501(c)(3). This will allow The Friends to raise money to support the creation of an Osceola branch library in Celebration, while allowing donors, both individuals and corporations to treat their contributions as a charitable donation.

Purpose

The purpose of The Friends is threefold:

	To develop programs that encourage literacy in West Osceola County and Celebration
	To develop programs to encourage our youth to participate in library programs and develop reading skills
	To foster meaningful dialog between the citizens of West Osceola County, Celebration, and the Osceola Library.

The West Osceola Friends of the Library is registered with the State of Florida as a public charity that is permitted to raise funds through donations, contributions, and memberships. The following information is provided to enable prospective contributors to make an informed choice regarding their participation in the Friends mission.
