West Osceola Friends of the Library:

Mission and Purpose

The purpose of The Friends is threefold:

	To develop programs that encourage literacy in West Osceola County and Celebration
	To develop programs to encourage our youth to participate in library programs and develop reading skills
	To foster meaningful dialog between the citizens of West Osceola County, Celebration, and the Osceola Library.

Background

The community of Celebration has been actively pursuing the creation of a full service branch of the Osceola Library located in Celebration and serving the needs of West Osceola County since the inception of the Lakeside Volunteer Library. A group of dedicated library volunteers realized that only a strong show of community support would demonstrate our commitment to the Osceola County commissioners for an Osceola branch library located within Celebration that serves the West Osceola community.

The West Osceola Friends of the Library was incorporated on April 29, 2004. We have been approved by the Internal Revenue Service, and are recognized as a charity under section 501(c)(3). This will allow The Friends to raise money to support the creation of a West Osceola branch library, while allowing donors, both individuals and corporations to treat their contributions as a charitable donation.

Donor Privacy Statement:

West Osceola Friends of the Library places the highest priority on protecting the privacy of our donors and holds all donor information in strict confidence. WOFOL does not and will not sell or trade a donor's information to any other entity. We will not use a donor name without signed donor permission.

Supporting the West Osceola Friends of the Library:

Supporting the mission of the West Osceola Friends of the Library just got easier. The West Osceola Friends of the Library is a member of Guidestar.org www.guidestar.org , a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to "revolutionize philanthropy and nonprofit practice by providing information that advances transparency, enables users to make better decisions, and encourages charitable giving."

Registration Information:

The West Osceola Friends of the Library is registered with the State of Florida as a public charity that is permitted to raise funds through donations, contributions, and memberships. The following information is provided to enable prospective contributors to make an informed choice regarding their participation in the Friends mission.
